What does the typical interior of a van consist of? Generally vital information such as delivery notes, price lists, orders, schedule notes often mixed up with takeaway menus and food wrappers. The inside of a van can be an inhospitable place for orderly record-keeping.
Imagine if the whole lot could be digitised and carried about in a box the size of a paperback; if it could present delivery instructions and product prices on-screen and accept digital.

Proof-of-delivery signatures written as if with a pen; and if it was all encased in a watertight, greaseproof and drop-resistant shell that isolates the workings and the vital data from the rigours of the van driver’s world. You might have just have imagined the VanStar system !
But the basic hardware is only part of the product. Inside the unit runs a piece of software that can take a delivery driver through his steps to fulfil customer orders with human error left out of the process. Changes in orders or prices, special offers or customer-specific deals are all dealt with from the back office by updating the TouchPC’s database either back at base at the end of a shift or over the air at the end of a GSM/GPRS signal.
Furthermore, the inherent connectivity (wired or wireless) allows TouchStar’s portable printers and barcode scanners to be taken on the road, giving the driver maximum versatility. The screen can even double up as a GPS monitor and input device, keeping the whole operation bang on target. |
